Better, Not Bigger: How We’re Rethinking Fashion
With a lot of thinking and a lot of cups of tea, we’re launching the first episode of our new documentary series:
Whats the future of clothing ?
It’s for anyone who feels stuck in the middle of a complex, often frustrating fashion system. That goes for anybody, a customer, a designer, a teacher, a manufacturer.
For the people asking: is this really the best we can do?
This isn’t a sleek brand film. It’s a conversation — open, honest, unfinished and infact only just begun.
We’re asking questions:
- How do we support what we already have?
- How do we learn from the future?
- How do we take the technology being developed and make it work for real people?
- How do we balance the energy for change with the strength of standing still and listening?
This is the start of a bigger conversation — and I’d love you to be part of it.
What matters to you most in this industry?
What would you most like to see change?

As a loyal customer I am really interested in the progress of Palava. I just don’t get this throw away society, this is ingenious! There must be so many blankets about, my parents in their 80’s “don’t do duvets!”
I keep my clothes and shoes and bags for years and years, I am not worried about fashion yet am often complemented on my clothes – lots of which are from Palava. A wonderful company with that personal touch.
So appreciated your first film Palava Team, am fascinated to know more. Thank you
Thanks for the opportunity to reflect on this. It feels there is a conundrum for the customer too -how to support businesses like Palava whilst not over-consuming. There is limit to the number of Palava dresses I need and as
Adele point, out they are timeless designs and hard-wearing! I also buy from charity shops to recycle but recognise that this in some ways side-steps the issue.
Will be interested to view the next episodes.
Very exciting initiative
Really thoughtful. It’s difficult for Palava as what you do well also sort of makes a rod for your own back.
The clothing exists outside fashion in the same ballpark as say Cabbages & Roses, so it’s timeless. Everything is
so beautifully made,so it doesn’t wear out, but you need to sell to keep a viable business going.
