Celebrating British quality and craftsmanship, with a Palava twist of course...
Designed to stand the test of time
Bryony, our founder, has fond memories of a little riding jacket her grandmother had made for her mother as a child. Finding it again in a trunk a couple of years ago, she was inspired to include a nod to it in our collection.
Like many pieces from that era, the jacket was beautifully handmade with high quality materials, designed to stand the test of time. And that's what we've brought through into our Heritage Collection too, selecting only the highest quality materials and working with real experts on Tweed fabric.
Of course, we added a touch of Palava colour to our jackets by lining them with our original prints.
Made in the UK
When creating our Heritage Collection, we wanted to make sure our processes were as sustainable and beneficial to the industry and planet as possible. We therefore set out to work with the best British manufacturers we could find. Our Harris Tweed Riding Jackets are made as follows:
1. Harris Tweed comes from the Outer Hebrides, a conglomerate of islands off the North West coast of Scotland. It is the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament.
2. The Harris Tweed in our Heritage Riding Jacket is woven in Stornoway at Kenneth Mackenzie Ltd. They are the oldest weaver of Harris Tweed, and the only one still owned by an Islander.
3. The signature Palava lining fabric is designed in London, and then woven and printed in Turkey by Guray and his team.
4. The Riding Jacket buttons are from Astor Metal Buttons and are covered in the UK.
5. The Harris Tweed, Palava lining fabric and buttons are all sent to North West London to be cut and sewn together by Julie & Satnam and their team.
6. Finally, once the Heritage Jacket is all assembled, it is delivered to Zoe and Sam at the Palava Warehouse in Yorkshire.
Authentic Harris Tweed
Harris Tweed is one of the world’s most iconic fabrics, handwoven by inhabitants of The Outer Hebrides for centuries. It's a fabric known for its toughness and warmth against the colder climes of the winter.
Authentic Harris Tweed is made from 100% virgin wool that is dyed, spun, carded, woven by hand and finished all in the Outer Hebrides.
Kenneth Mackenzie Ltd
We worked with Kenneth Mackenzie of Stornoway, the oldest Harris Tweed mill still in operation today. It is also the only mill still independently owned by an Islander.
Originally opened in 1906, they have valuable years of experience managing the production of the finest quality Harris Tweed.

Palava products are shipped from the UK, but please keep in mind, that you or the recipient may have to pay duty and VAT upon or prior to delivery.
This differs for each country, so please check your local regulations beforehand. Each country is subject to their own laws for import of goods, taxes and duty.
You may not be charged anything, or be able to claim back any duty fees, however, we hope the 20% discount will help offset any potential Brexit related costs for our customers.
If you have problems applying the code on our website, please email hello@palava.co and we'll be happy to assist and reimburse you with the 20% off for EU orders.
1. Will I have to pay more now for EU shipping?
No, we haven't increased our delivery fees for EU customers, despite increased costs to ship to EU countries. Instead we have absorbed the additional postage costs and staff resources for the paperwork.
2. Will I be charged for Duty/Tax by customs on arrival of my parcel?
You may be charged tax for your order on arrival by the country of destination and this is not imposed by Palava.co, these taxes are referred to as “Import Taxes”. We thus advise looking into the national taxes imposed by your country on the import of goods from UK merchants. We have seen in the past that not all international sales are subject to import duty and taxes, but that does not mean that on arrival the individual country will not impose these charges. Charges on imports are often based on the destination country, product type, product value, county of origin, and declaration of use of goods. If goods are of a low value certain countries may not impose duty charges, but we highly recommend you look into the guidance provided by the local governing body that manages your country’s imports and tax charges.
