Waxed Cotton Trench Coats
Celebrating British quality and craftsmanship, with a Palava twist of course...
British-Made for British Weather
A beautifully-cut waxed cotton coat is a staple in any British wardrobe. Layered with Palava fabric and colourful prints, we're revisiting a classic but with a sustainable upgrade.
This year we're introducing Waxed Cotton Trench Coats to our Heritage Collection. Made in Britain, they will be your trusty companion no matter the weather. Working with incredible manufacturers on our home shores who have years of experience in waxing cotton, we've designed these Heritage Trench Coats to be lived in and loved for years to come.
British-Made for British Weather
When creating our Heritage Collection, we wanted to make sure our processes were as sustainable and beneficial to the industry and planet as possible. We therefore set out to work with the best British manufacturers we could find. Our Waxed Cotton Trench Coat are made as follows:
1. We produce our Waxed Cotton with the legendary Halley Stevensons. The cotton fabric is coated with an innovative biodegradable wax blend in their factory in Dundee.
2. The signature Palava lining fabric is designed in London, and then woven and printed in Turkey by Guray and his team.
3. The Trench Coat buttons are from Astor Metal Buttons and are covered in the UK.
4. The Waxed Cotton fabric, Palava lining fabric and buttons are all sent to North West London to be cut and sewn together by Julie & Satnam and their team.
5. After their final assembly, the new Heritage Trench Coats are delivered to Zoe and Sam at the Palava Warehouse in North Yorkshire.
Waxed Cotton
Waxing cotton in order to give it more water repelling properties came to prominence in the 1930s. Originally, manufacturers would use paraffin wax on the cotton. In line with our sustainability goals, we were honoured to work with Halley Stevensons to use a new innovative, hybrid wax blend which is biodegradable.

Not only are we able to support British business and industry, Halley Stevensons take it a step further when it comes to low impact production: they carry out all the stages of the production process, from dyeing, waxing and finishing under one roof.
