The Palava Fete

It's all about the prints

Cream FOlk Check

Light, breezy, and quietly charming, this check is made for spring strolls and summer fêtes. It has a nostaglic nod to the classic picnic blanket laid out on the grass but with a palava twist or a favourite dress pulled from the wardrobe year after year. Subtle enough to pair with bold prints, but full of character on its own, it’s a fresh take on a timeless pattern. Soft, simple, and ready for sunny days ahead.

Ditsy Daisy

We couldn’t forget the floral lovers this season. This ditsy print is a love letter to springtime walks when the fields come alive with tiny blossoms and wildflowers you almost miss if you’re not looking. Delicate, detailed, and full of colour, it’s our way of bottling up that feeling of stumbling across a perfect patch of blooms on a sunny afternoon.

Pickle Jar

This print is a nod to one of the sweetest sights at any village fête, rows of jars lined up and glinting in the sun, each one proudly entered into the preserves competition. From jewel-toned jams to sharp pickles and syrupy slices of lemon, they speak of quiet afternoons in the kitchen and recipes passed from hand to hand. A celebration of care, craft, and the joy of sharing something homemade.

Tiny Hardware

Tiny Hardware is our tribute to the well-stocked shed and the joy of DIY. The print is full of character, with hand-drawn details, hammers, pliers, and brooms, all miniaturised, all waiting their rightful place. It’s a celebration of DIY being for both men and women. We all enjoy a tinker in the tool shed, making, mending, and pottering on a sunny afternoon.

Cream Cakes

At most village fêtes, one of the biggest events of all is the cake competition. Tables and nice tablecloths holding the weight of sponges, traybakes and carefully piped showstoppers, all lined up and waiting to be judged.

While circling the tent, eyeing up the contenders, quietly confident your Victoria sponge might just outshine your cousin’s lemon drizzle this year. There’s chatter about the lightest crumb, the glossiest icing, the best decoration. And let’s be honest you’re mostly wondering how many slices you can get away with trying.

A floral celebration of summer in full bloom. Red Strawberries

Strawberries are the stars of the season. Sweet, freshly picked, and impossible to stop at just one. You’ll find them piled high in punnets at the fête, folded into sponge cakes, or proudly entered into the “Best Fruit” competition. Each strawberry in this print was hand-sketched by Bryony, and no two are quite the same, just like the real thing. Printed on soft, breathable sateen, it’s a fabric made for summer days and easy wearing, from the first pick of the season right through to the last.

Red Stripe

You can’t have a summer fête without a good stripe. This print draws inspiration from the heart of the fair, stripey tents pitched on village greens, tablecloths fluttering in the breeze, and trestle tables piled high with homemade treats. In a bold red with that signature Palava character, it brings just the right mix of nostalgia and cheer. Designed for easy pairing with our florals, fruit and playful motifs, it’s a fabric made for mixing, matching, and making your outfit entirely your own. A true summer classic, with a Palava twist.

Thumb Print

A new abstract Palava favourite in the collection, this painterly print is full of soft, organic dots, a little like flower petals, sweets, or brushstrokes, depending on how you see it. Printed on linen for a slightly weightier feel, the colours still sing, making it the perfect complement to our florals and stripes. Bold but not overpowering, it brings balance and texture in just the right way. A completely unique design, and already a firm favourite across our Tabatha, Peggy, and Jumpsuit styles.

Navy Fruit

This print is all about the joy (and quiet competitiveness) of homegrown produce. Months of patient tending lead to this: proudly imperfect carrots, plump courgettes, and runner beans so straight they practically line up on their own. Whether destined for the village fête or just tonight’s dinner, each vegetable tells a story of care, graft, and a bit of gardening magic. It’s a celebration of growing your own, from seed to delicious veg!

Green Peas

There’s nothing quite like plucking a pea pod from the vine as you wander through the garden, a little reward for your efforts, sweet and crunchy and gone before it ever makes it to the kitchen. This print is a tribute to homegrown goodness, to admiring your veg patch with muddy hands and a sense of pride. Peas might be humble, but in the right moment, they’re perfection.

Green Pot Plants

For the plant lovers who are just a little bit potty about their pots. This print is a tribute to those who lovingly carry their finest blooms to the fête, hoping for a rosette (and maybe causing a little green envy along the way). Inspired by the glorious chaos of a flower show table, full of colour, pride, and perfectly arranged petals, it bridges the seasons with fresh, delicate tones and classic Palava illustration. With pops of red and a nod to “Best in Show” spirit, this one’s for anyone who’s ever named their houseplants or polished a terracotta pot before judging.

Teal Diamonds

A classic hand drawn Palava print with a playful twist, this diamond design brings together some of our firm favourites: cats, dogs, plants, and a touch of circus flair. Inspired by traditional harlequin patterns and the joyful spirit of the village fête, it’s full of quirky illustrations and the kind of details that never get boring to look at. With a palette of quintessentially English colours, it’s bold, light-hearted, and unmistakably Palava. We loved it so much, it's in our Cynthia and also our florence skirt!

Blue Circus Sports

A graceful nod to one of our classic prints, Circus Sport returns, this time in a rich indigo blue that’s timeless, easy to wear, and endlessly stylish. Originally from our SS20 collection, this design celebrates the elegance and athleticism of the circus, with beautifully drawn figures mid-performance: balancing, juggling, and flying through the air with ease. It’s full of movement, charm, and signature Palava detail. First seen in our Syd dress, this season it steps into the spotlight once more, now in our Florence skirt and Kit shirt.

Navy Paradise Gardens

Originally painted in watercolour and Indian ink by Palava friend Ingebjørg Hunskaar, this print imagines a paradise garden, where fantastical plants and endangered animals live in harmony. Back for another season in a bold navy colourway, the rich background brings new depth to the vivid shapes and details. It’s a celebration of nature at its most magical, layered, lively, and full of wonder.

Black Big Top

We have brought back by popular demand, our Big Top print is inspired by the fabric of a vintage dress once worn by the unforgettable ‘Great Aunty Pie’. Full of movement, colour, and classic Palava character, the print captures the lively world inside the circus tent — from high-flying acts to playful performers. Bold, joyful, and a little bit spectacular, just like Great Aunty Pie herself.

Navy Cornfield

Back by popular demand, this much-loved piece features Bob, a countryside cat with a knack for stealing the spotlight. Bob belonged to Jim, our photographer, and became an unexpected part of the Palava story when he kept wandering into shot during one of our earlier photo shoots.

The print itself is a border of pure Palava joy. From cornfields to wildflower meadows and where hedgehogs scurry, bugs bustle, and butterflies flit between the blooms. Hidden among it all are curious little creatures, each one with a story of its own. Set against a rich navy background with a pop of orange along the hem, it’s a scene that unfolds like the pages of a picture book, full of nature and classic Palava charm.

Stripey tents on the village green, ice cream vans, trestle tables with tea and coffee in mismatched cups, and stalls selling homemade jams and handmade keepsakes. It’s cheerful, full of colour, and dotted with all the little details that make a summer’s day at the fête so enjoyable.
