At Palava, we take great care in the pieces that we make.
It’s not about fashion, but about well-made pieces we’ll keep for years.
It’s about traceability, and knowing who makes our clothes.
It’s about supporting other British businesses and celebrating long-standing craftsmanship.
It’s about using materials that are close to home.
We’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but we believe it’s about doing things in a way you think is right.
Our Heritage Collection pushes us forward. It forces us to look for local solutions, manufacturers and materials. And for that reason, we’re so proud of it.
We’ve worked with manufacturers from the Isle of Harris to Leicester (and don’t forget to pass by Yorkshire to visit the sheep).
And together, our hard work has created some beautiful pieces that are designed to be lived in and loved for years to come.
The wool knitwear
For our knitwear, we use 100% British wool from sheep in Yorkshire. It’s a blend of wool from Masham and Blue-faced Leicester sheep, so it’s durable and soft. And it's worth noting that all the sheep we get our wool from are non-mulesed.
Lizzie in Ripley makes the Pewter buttons for our Molly cardigans.
The various cardigans are knitted in Leicester (for the Corvette and Popcorn cardigans) and Mansfield (for the Molly cardigan and Valerie tank top).
Finally, they arrive at the Palava warehouse in Yorkshire to be packed up and sent out to you!
What does the team say about our heritage knits?
Well you might have seen on our social channels: everyone in the team has one.
Talk about twinning in the office! The chances are so high.
Emma got hers when we did Goodwood in 2022. It was so cold she slept in it!
Bryony has had hers since they first launched in 2018. She wears it practically every other day - even in the summer as a jacket. (Yes we all think that’s mad too, but wool is a really good thermo-regulator so I guess it makes sense)

The Harris Tweed riding jackets
For our riding jackets, we use authentic Tweed from the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides.
It’s the only fabric in the world governed by its own Act of Parliament. Did you know?
The Harris Tweed in our Heritage Riding Jacket is woven in Stornoway at Kenneth Mackenzie Ltd.
They are the oldest weaver of Harris Tweed, and the only one still owned by an Islander.
Of course we had to add a touch of Palava, so we have lined them with some of our iconic prints.
Finally, they are sewn into beautiful jackets by Julie and her team in our little London factory.
What does the team say about our heritage riding jackets?
Bryony, our founder, has fond memories of a little riding jacket her grandmother had made for her mother as a child.
This was what inspired her to design this one for our Heritage Collection.
It was important for her to create an item that can stand the test of time - they’re not a fashion item, but an investment piece that you can wear year after year.
So only the best materials and skilled craftsmanship were to be used.
The result is a quintessential British-made riding jacket with a unique touch. A touch of Palava. A touch of colour. A touch of joy every time you roll up your sleeves.

The waxed-cotton trench coats
For our trench coats, we use hard-wearing cotton that is waxed in Dundee.
You can’t get more British than a waxed-cotton jacket.
With a huge probability of it raining - frankly, any minute now - we couldn’t not make these beautiful trench coats.
As we’ve always been conscious about the materials we use,
Always favouring natural fibres over any alternatives,
It was important for us to work with our manufacturers to do what was right.
Working with the legendary Halley Stevensons, we were able to use their new innovative, hybrid wax blend which is biodegradable.
And, of course, we had to add a touch of fun.
So we’ve lined the inside with iconic Palava fabric.
Sewn together by Julie and her team in our little London factory, these coats are British-made for British weather!
What does the team say about our trench coats?
It’s a classic but with a Palava twist and a sustainable upgrade.
With its clean shape and deep pockets, it’s the perfect coat for autumn and winter - layer it over any dress with your knee-high socks and you’re good to go.
Oh, and don’t forget your wellies!
