Why British Wool? A Palava Film Series

In Yorkshire, we're surrounded by sheep. Yet so much British wool goes unused. Why is that, and what can we do about it?

In the first chapter of our new film series, we head into the Yorkshire countryside to explore where our wool comes from and meet the people who understand it best.

We learn about the native Swaledale sheep, whose remarkable fleece has adapted to the landscape around them, with long outer fibres to shed rain and a softer layer underneath for warmth.

It's a reminder of just how special our native sheep breeds are, and why their wool is something worth cherishing.

For us at Palava, this is where the story begins. From our traceable Molly cardigans to our wider work exploring the possibilities of British wool, we're asking how we can make better use of this wonderful homegrown fibre.

Watch Part 1 and join us as we head into the field.
