About the Style: Rita is a shining star of a dress. She’s the one you’ll want to dance the night away in… Her shape is exceptionally flattering and helps enhance a beautiful hourglass silhouette. Her tulip sleeves are non-restrictive and allow for full arm movement. Rita’s shape is inspired by original dresses of the 1940s and she’s definitely got that special touch of vintage elegance about her. We make Rita from Tencel which has the same floaty weight and feel to rayon (the material that this style of dress would have been originally made from).
About the Print: Sloe also known as Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is a thorny hedgerow plant with dark purple berries often sought after in autumn to make warming country wine or gin. Hedgerows are good places to look for sloes from September to November. When ripe, sloes are plump and dark-skinned and have no traces of green.
The small tree or shrub also has a firm place in folk history and medicine in the British Isles. Sloes were also used as remedies for coughs and colds because of their astringency. The peeled bark boiled in water was a gypsy remedy for bronchitis.
About the Fabric: We continue to use the ethical superhero fabric, Tencel™, for many of our clothes. Tencel™ is made from the pulp of Eucalyptus trees. It has the feel of vintage rayon - beautifully floaty and drapey, it washes really well and is biodegradable. It’s the most environmentally responsible fabric that we have come across and we love the look it gives to our dresses.
